Din Tai Fung 鼎泰豐

This has been a relatively smooth week, now that I know the campus better and where my classes are in addition to how things are run. Yesterday, Stacey took us to the world renowned Din Tai Fung Restaurant 鼎泰豐, which has been named one of the best restaurants in the world by the New York Times, and has been accoladed as one of the best restaurants for xiaolongbao 小籠包.

Inside the Silvercord Centre where Din Tai Fung is located.
Festive dragion lions ready for Chinese New Year!
The first Din Tai Fung was in Taiwan, and now they have branches all over Asia and I believe a few on the West Coast of the U.S. as well. This particular Din Tai Fung was located in Tsim Sha Tsui  尖沙咀 in Kowloon 九龍 and inside the Silvercord Centre shopping mall.

The xiaolongbaos 小籠包 did not dissapoint, I think they were honestly the best I've ever had. Granted, I've only ever had xiaolongbaos in America, but they were from some pretty legitimate Shanghainese eateries in Chinatown. The skin was the perfect thickness and the soup inside the little pouches were perfectly seasoned, not too salty and just delicately flavored enough to be absolutely delicious. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. No wonder the wait was so long for us to get a seat. But at least they gave us a private room for no extra charge. The atmosphere was pretty classy and in my opinion, the cleanliness of the place was absolutely impeccable for a Chinese eatery. The food was also very elegantly presented, I wish I took more pictures of the food, but they were devoured so quickly by us hungry college students that I didn't get a chance to. I'll definitely come back next time and take more pictures of the food.

A classy group of people, as you can clearly tell.

Headed back to campus after an amazing dinner!
